Mussel Bed Mapping

Protocol Overview

  1. Find a date, time, and place to collect your data
    • Select a rocky intertidal area or mudflat as your field site
    • Choose a date and time to collect data that is within one hour of low tide.

2. Walk along the water line looking for mussels and mussel beds.

3. Take photos of your location and the mussels that you see.

4. OPTIONAL: Record information about the mussel size, quantity, habitat, and predators.
